Mayfield Hill

September 8, 2010 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 70 Sunny

Comments:
2 mi warm-up (scattered through campus)
10x400m Mayfield Hills
Mayfield to Coventry to Euclid Heights to Veale (with Brian Link, Paul Zackowski)

I was grouped with Wyatt and Robert for the hills and we all stayed in a nice cluster for the first six or so. I felt moderately relaxed, though I felt the hills as intervals some for sure. I ended up running the next few mainly with Wyatt, trying to maintain form and consistent effort, but not all-out. On the last one, I started off relaxed much like the previous repeats, but heard Coach Barnes yelling to us to make it hurt and that this is where we need to push it to make nationals and kicked hard on for the last 150ish. I was a bit dizzy afterward, though this was the first time I've kicked like that in a very, very long time. My general sentiment about this workout is that it exploited my lack of anaerobic endurance ("sick" hard intervals feeling), but my legs felt good. My breathing was also seemingly better than most of the people around me.
