Comments:
Coach announced that today we were going to go up to a seven mile tempo--at the same pace we've been running. I, despite having a pretty terrible day up to this point, managed to stay mentally strong and wasn't afraid of it. That's often the key for me: I can't be afraid. We stayed as a pack the whole time. I was cramping up for much of the part by the lake, but felt much better back on MLK.
I am taking this basically at face value. It was hard enough that I was breathing hard and my stomach hurt by the end, but not so fast that it felt uncomfortable to run. This was faster than I ran the seven mile tempo last year (40:25), but my heart rate was 192 today (assuming Coach Barnes had us count for 10 seconds) and it was only 176 last year.
This was a great opportunity for me to royally screw up and I didn't. I know some people are super-dee-duper excited about the way we all ran today, but for me it just is what it is. One day at a time. The future will come when it does.
Lifting- ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I was dizzy and falling over. It hade my legs hurt.
The Eagle
Icing- My knee was bothering me more today than I would have liked before the tempo. The tempo didn't make it worse, but it's not feeling great.
