Well, I kind of have mixed feelings about this race. I am super happy with how close I am to my PR, but then again, I did not pass a lot of girls and I felt like I was being passed the whole race. Anyway, mile by mile:
The first mile was fantastic! I got out pretty fast and tried to stay decently close to Savannah. I could see her for a lot longer than I usually can during a race. I felt really relaxed this first mile, which is new for me haha, and my legs still felt pretty fresh. I came in at 6:40, which is pretty fast for me, so I was pretty pumped about that, and that I was still feeling pretty good.
The second mile, I just basically died. Rachael passed me real early in the second mile and I just could not tell my mind to stick with her. I still kept pretty positive though, and did really well with still focusing on the race. I was singing the song, Happiness by David Crowder because I thought it would make me really happy. But the song is only so long, and I can only repeat it so many times. I got passed a ton, though, in this mile. I pretty much failed at surging--which I am pretty frustrated about. So at Warrior Mountain I am gonna focus on that. I guess I just never know when the right time to surge is, but the more I do it, I think the more natural it will become.
The third mile was not very swell. The hill owned me, but I passed on the down hill pretty well. I kicked it in at the end and I passed the two girls in front of me. So that's good!
Anyways, I wish we had more races! I feel like the season just barely started, but we're already half way through! I am super pumped though!
OH! And I forgot to share that I was not nervous for this race!!!!!! Only a couple butterflies, but in comparison to what I usually am like, that is very good! So yay for me!!!!! AND I'M GONNA BREAK MY PR AT BEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES! :D
Oh, and athletic.net is not working for me right now, so my time is not exact but super close to exact.
