Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
After finding out that every mile is marked, I decided to do my Sunday long run on the York Heritage Trail off of North George Street. I ran 5 miles, out and back, on the trail to make it ten. Most of the first 10 were under 7-minute pace, ranging from under 6:40-6:50's. After I got back to the car (where I'm pretty sure I saw a homeless guy taking a dump) I grabbed a Powerbar gel and some water. This time, I quickly downed the gel with some water which seemed to help.
I tried to run the next 6 miles (out 3 and back) close to marathon pace:
6:03
6:04
5:54
6:04
6:06
5:45 (I picked it up as I worked my way back tot he car)
I stopped for about 15 seconds during the 5th mile to stretch since my calves were beginning to tighten up.
Overall, I was pretty happy with the run although I'm beginning to question if running 6:00-6:10 is a possibility. I'm going to get in a few more long runs before I reevaluate my goals for the marathon.
