So this race was pretty much sweet. Got a 17:36 and it sounds like alot of people PR'ed which is really good. We will be rocking in districts. But im super happy with this race.
pre-race: Got about 7 hours of sleep, had sub sandwich from gandolfos and a large smoothie from emerald city smoothies a couple hours before the race. Drank ALOT of water.
1 mile: Pretty great, I started out quick and i tried to stay with ryan and nick most of the time. Mile split was 5:21 i think?
2 mile: Still trying to keep up with Ryan, it was pretty smooth, saw Nick dying in the distance like he usually does.
3 mile: I got really pumped up this mile because coaches were saying that the kids behind me were going to make 10th place and medal, and i was infront of them!!!!! Ryan took off this mile, but i caught up to Nick which is good. I was with him until about the last 400 meters or so. Then him, a nyssa kid and a butte pirate got me on the last 400. So not the greatest kick, i didn't quite get the 10th place spot. But im still happy that i PR'ed. 17:36 is exactly what Taylor Galusha ran last year at this race.
CONGRATS to Chris for being a total beast (16:23 would have won it last year), and Austin for pushing his way onto varsity :)
