Long Run on Heritage Trail

October 17, 2010 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Jimmy again accompanied me on my Sunday long run. We drove down to the York Heritage trail off of N. George Street. The weather was rather chilly in the morning but it warmed up as the run went along. Starting at the 21 mile marker, I ran 10 down to the 11 mile marker, averaging 7-minute pace along the way, although I did start out rather slow. I then picked it up to marathon pace for the remaining 10 miles. I eased into the pace, running the first three miles in 6:12, 6:09, & 6:08. The remaining seven miles were all between 5:53-6:00. Jimmy gave me water and gel packets along the way. The pace didn't feel too difficult but my legs were certainly tightening up as the run went along. I could also feel the tightness in my hamstring quite well.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the way things went today and I'm going to keep my goal marathon time at 2:40.
