drove up with shane a lafferty to parvin st pk in pittsgrove, nj. was very chilled on the warm up and was still feeling the pack of double stuffed oreos i put down last night (2240cals). toed the line with a bunch of midgets in spikes and what seemed to be a few serious contenders. went out in what felt like a fast pace through the mile. looked at the watch and didn't see sub 5 so i through in a surge that laf and the other guy countered. through 2mi actually saw a slowdown in time although it was downhill and i was maxin' out? the 3rd mile, at this point, was just about maintaining and getting to the line. the footing was getting a little dicey as the road narrowed to a roughly paved path and then loosely sometimes packed dirt with some roots on the single-track trail. Splits were 5:01, 5:12, 5:35(last 1.1)= 15:49. seemed like a lot of effort with little result and laf said the same (15:54). it was definitely a cool course, but it was a shame the race couldn't have been faster with the nice conditions and number of close guys: 1st 15:44 (sub 4 nava miller), 2nd 15:46, 3rd 15:49, 4th 15:53, 5th: 15:54.. won a $175 debit card which makes the trip worth it
