Spent most of the whole day at Smokey Glen Farm running at the battle of the potomac. Definitely glad I chose to do this. Got a free and awesome singlet and a cool bag that comes with registration. Was the only GDS runner there, and aside from Marisa and Julia Dohner who volunteered, the only GDS person there in general. I got there pretty early so I stretched a bunch (still feeling a little tight from striders) went on a course walk, and drank like 5 bottles of water. I jogged a loop of the course and proceeded to do drills until my race time. I was feeling great in my race until I was over halfway through the second mile, when I lost some motivation for a few minutes :/...my mouth was painfully dry the entire race, even though I had hydrated so much..(I used the bathroom a bunch, maybe thats it) Overall I thought I gave it my all,but I still got a really crappy time. Marisa tried to make me feel better by saying that the course is supposedly a minute slower than Saleisianum, that I didnt have the team to motivate me, and that the season peaked three weeks ago, and the fact that I still ran today was great...ehhh I was personally really disappointed at first, but felt bettter about it later. The night before, I shouldnt have went that fast with the stirders just because I felt great, and I really shouldnt have gone to the mixer. I guess I learned I cant multitask. But if it really was a minute slower than saleisanum, then I must have done at least ok, because this time was almost two minutes faster than my Salesianum time. Ahh Im confused, but all I know I was a a minutte and a half slower than a week ago which really pissed me off. Overall I had a great time and a had a great experience. If you dont have a bad race, how can you be able to distinguish a good race? Ehh it leaves more room for imporvement once I get back from my two week running sabbatical.
