A Swift Kick in the Rear

Classic Downtown Sandusky route-

I decided that my training (and everything else I've been doing) for the last couple weeks has been lackluster and undisciplined. Right after watching the Browns' debacle, I set off at steady-state pace in the ice/snow/concrete mix, thinking I could use a good, swift kick in the rear. The arch of my right foot was hurting, but I largely ignored it, trying to run semi-fast and not slip on the ice. My foot loosened as I ran and was not much of an issue after the first couple miles.

After about four miles, I really had to go to the bathroom, but it seems that all public restrooms close in the winter and since it was Sunday, nothing else was open. I even tried stopping at St. Pete's on the way back but the door to the bathrooms was locked and I didn't really want to try going through the church dressed how I was. About a mile later, these two H.S.-age guys stopped me and asked if a church was "this way" and pointed down some random sidestreet. They divulged nothing else about where they were trying to go, so I was of no help. I tried stopping to go to the bathroom a couple more times, but nothing came of it and I had to hold it all the way home.

Despite my issues, I still managed a fairly fast pace without feeling tired at all, so I am pleased from that standpoint. This run was sort of weird. My foot is bothering me now, so I hope my "kick in the rear" didn't injure my own foot!
