Exercise Type: Run

Weather: absolutely perfect

Comments:
This was good. haha. :)

mile 1: i started out pretty quick, haha i was right behind the 2nd person and i was kind of laughing to myself because callie and kerrie are always making fun of kerrie's first race and it reminded me of that.

anyways, my pace evened out. and i moved up, and some people passed me, and i passed them, etc..

mile 2: I felt the same. i was having fun, and i felt just peachy, but the whole time i was thinking, "I have to beat 23 I have to beat 23." That goal didn't leave my head for even a second.

mile 3: i got a little side cramp and it hurt but whatever. haha. i slowed down a little. but then i started running faster at the 'peace out tree' that we did at practice wednesday (which helped me so much). and guess what, i actually sprinted at the finish. not as fast as i was planning but hey, i did it haha. And while I was running I realized that every little second counts. If I hadn't started off as quick as I did or started running faster at the tree or passed the people I did, I wouldn't have gotten the time I wanted.

I just wanted to say thank you so much. for everything. all the coaches were amazing this season. and even though i didn't work to what i know my potential is, i will next season. and i'm going to stay in shape this year. and i think i needed this medeoker (sp?) to show me that i can't just be unfocused and still be successful.

Everything you say about running is so true. I did what you said. Last night I went over my race in my head like 5 times before I fell asleep. And during the boring plant movie 2nd period. And it worked. Really well. I could just see myself not getting stuck in the sand, sprinting at the end and starting off quickly at the beginning. And what's funny is in Botany I was so bored during that movie that I started doodling and I drew a picture of me finishing and the little clock said: 22:59 and that's what my time was. Like, I completely knew that my time was going to be below 23:00.

This whole experience and all your little inspirational pep talks have actually started to stick in my head. They mean a lot to me and I'll never forget about the little lessons haha. I actually believe now that I can just do anything, if I want it enough and believe and work for it. I'm totally inspired to use it in other areas of my life.

So thanks again to all the coaches and the whole team. :) I'll see you next year!!
