the meet was really really long and the 5k is the second to last event so it was a very stretched out day. probably warmed up a little soon, but not too bad. it definitely could have been worse. warmed up probably a little more than 2 miles, and then cooled down a bit more too. there weren't too many people in the race, actually the only other real competition was chicago chris, who i only beat because he had 4 pieces of pizza between his 3k and 5k, but he really helped me out during the race so it was okay. was going pretty evenly on 38's for a while, just sticking right behind chicago chris, i was a little hesitant to pass him until i did, but we were slowing down so i had to do something. not sure exactly when that was, maybe 10 laps to go, maybe a little after or before. hit a few 41's in there, have to work on that. last lap was 30 seconds.

despite winning it doesn't really mean much, there weren't really any good people from our team or anyone else's in the race, so it was really sort of a time trial from my perspective at least. i wasn't too sure of what kind of shape i was going to be in, i knew things were doing good, but i wasn't sure how close to pr/16:00 i could actually be. on the negative side of this race, it really makes me wonder where this kind of race was hiding all cross country season. I'm honestly not that much better than i was a few months ago, or at least i don't feel like i am.
