Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Caught on some sleep this morning, and skipped swimming. I might not be able to make it up this week, but I definitely got enough exercise from the work out. Did speed stuff. I decided to ease into the track, so I split going on the track and the treadmill.
Started with a warmup outside by myself. There is no way we could have worked out outside, but running isnt that bad. Ran around Severance, then came back and did the Medium drills. We did some striders, then pretty muched jumped straight into the workout. Did 4x200 at race pace. 2x400 at 3 seconds faster than race pace, then 6x800 alternating fast and slow.
Didnt have any times to base my pace off of, so I just kept up with Corey and Mitchell. the 2s were
41, 39, 37, 37
My back felt tight on the turns, but I could really open up on the straight aways, and it felt powerful. 200 rest after each the 4s were
72, 72
and those were pretty good too. 400 rest after each. After the second, jogged up tot he cardio room and hopped on a treadmill. Splits were somewhere around
2:35, 2:45, 2:35, 2:45, 2:30, 2:40.
I dont exactly remember, because it was in mph. It was tough to switch between interval and cooldown. I felt good strong thought, and sometimes wanted the treadmill to go faster. I was feeling it in my gut at the end though (the good pain feeling). Thats what I need. Also, my leg was fine on the treadmill.
Did a longer than expected cool down with Justine and Cindy. We did a loop around northside, involving the Michigan loop. By the end, legs were tired. Did a lot of miles today hope I am ready to handle it.
Did hammies and stretch and abs (w/ Ethan and Brandon) downstairs after. No lift ill do it tomorrow. Then an ice bath!
By next week, I would like to be able to do a full workout on the track, just to prepare for the indoor race. I still dont know what "racing shape" I am in. It has been so long since I raced. My goal is just to give it all I got and be thankful for the chance to race. A side goal is to run so hard that I pee my pants or void my bowels as I finish. That would be epic.
