private school invitational meet

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 38 raining; inside

Comments:
went for a light run in the morning to loosen up (23:11) because I know I run better if my race isn't my first exercise of the day.
a few hours later at the meet, did a 12 minute jog, drills, etc. and 8 striders, then raced the 2mile. the first mile felt great, and the second one felt surprisingly hard. I was alone for the entire race (there were only 4 people in it) and it was a challenge to remain focused and pushing on laps 9-14. I think I really gave it everything I had, though...I crossed the line gasping for air and drowning in sweat and totally unable to talk or even to unscrew the cap on a water bottle for a drink. i left what I had out there, but I'm still disappointed that I didn't drive in the last 400 meters as much as I maybe could have. I got passed by two people on the last lap, and I probably could have gotten one of them if I'd really dug deeper. I guess it's something to strive for next time! I did pr though :) I'm not sure by how much, because I deliberately did not check my previous 2mile time. but i know it was somewhere in the 13:20s, and today i ran 13:19. my splits were 45, then like 49 50 49 stuff like that (first mile 6:35), then second mile were slower like 51 50 52 etc but the last lap was 46.9, which shows that I had enough left to kick (second mile 6:44).
i really like the 2mile, and I'm excited to get better. I hope I'll be able to run it alot in the spring!
...this was a good training meet, and made me even more excited for the spring season :)
