All in all well over 4 miles of tempo and probably the hardest workout this year. We started tempoing after a loop around the first block of Dorset to rejoin the rest of the team. Then we went parallel to wisconsin until the little falls trail. Next we made our way over to the cap cres and down to dorset, with a little loop in somerset. At this point I was pretty miserable. Not tired, not breathing very hard, just my knees and below were so painful and stiff it was slowing me down a ton. I drifted to the caboose. I explained what was going on to Anthony, who offered to let me stop at Dorset and Wisconsin. Coming up the Dorset hill I was 100% sure I would have to do that, even though I resented it. Somewhere between the crest of the hill and Wisconsin though, something weird happened. Coming down the hill, the infuriating stiffness melted away. I had some sort of breakthrough. I made my way to the front (save peter and samet) without much effort. The rest felt great, satisfying heart pounding tempo, all the way back to school. I have no idea why this happened. Every time that familiar knee/shin stiffness sets in its game over, the rest of the run is terrible. I'm still trying to figure it out...
