Final Day at Navy

February 20, 2011 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
This was the last day of the most fun track meet I have ever been a part of. We woke up and got some breakfast and then had to rush to the bus. I of course was last. When we got to the meet we had an hour and a half until track events started, but field events were in full force. I hate the Bucknell team. They are so annoying when they cheer and their coach is a shitstick. Plus they are really fucking good. The mile was incredible to watch. Hanko made it look so effortless as he went 1,2,3 with Della Pelle and Haney. Abate made me really happy because he ran 4:15, ten seconds faster than he ran last week. He is officially back in full. Every event throughout the day was hotly contested and we had our entire team going crazy for everybody. Iffy pulled his hamstring in the 400 which sucked for us. I hope he recovers well. Ciaverdelli ran poor tactically in the 500 but really stepped up and scored for us with a 65. The 800 was my favorite event to watch. We needed to see something big because our team morale was declining, so who better to stepp up than Niall? Niall gritted his teeth and outkicked johnson from Army to win the 800, our first Patriot League Champion for the year. I don't know if I stopped smiling after that race. He really stepped up at the right time and pumped up our team. Then it was time for my race. We went out great. I got out in 4:36, which I thought was a fine mile split. But my kick was atrocious. Maybe I am just not putting enough into it, I don't know. I still got a half second PR, but it wasn't what I wanted. Could have been faster. Afterwards I cooled down five miles with Ty, Evans, and Flach. Flach stepped up big today, running 8:16. He got third. We needed that badly too. Etters was happy as a clam after the meet needless to say.
