Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
1st run back was injury free. No real pain in the achilles, and I think my cardio isn't completely gone. I could definitely tell I lost some though. Not out of the woods yet, but I figure that if I get through 3-4 days pain free I will be back to normal.
The run itself felt ok. I was struggling w/ breathing a bit, but nothing to be concerned about. At several points in the run I had to reign the pace back in. I was very surprised this ended up being about 6:50 pace. I was really trying to keep it 7:10 ish based on feel alone. I guess it is good that I hit that pace so easily, but I would like to be a bit more careful on my achilles than that.
One month from Saturday is race day. With the setback over the past 1-2 weeks I am way behind schedule, but I can definitely get back in shape and run a PR. I'm not going to jump mileage back to where it was b/c I think that might just cause another injury. I'll start increasing 5 a week until I get back to 55-60, starting at about 35-40 this week. I really need to get my long runs up b/c I have done almost no long runs to this point. This might mean my long run is 35%+ of my weekly mileage, but that is the most important thing to "practice" at this point. All of this depends on being injury free from here out.
