Comments:
I've been putting off this entry for awhile, because I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. On one hand, it's always cool to run on this track and the car ride is usually fun; on the other hand, I don't usually do too well at big meets like this. Well here's what happened:

In the 4x8 we were shooting for a school record, and to do so we only had to run an 8:38 (yeah, it's a pretty slow record). If Thomas ran a 2:07, I ran a 2:08, Sam ran a 2:11, and Henry ran a 2:12 (all of which are conservative times for all of us--and if Henry runs a 4:47 mile then I think he should have been able to break 2:10), then we had the record. In the end, Thomas ran a 2:07.high, I ran 2:07.mid (PR!), Sam ran a 2:09ish (Great PR for him), and Henry... Henry ran a fucking 2:18. Yeah, we missed the record, which I had previously thought was a given. All Henry had to do was run what he ran at States--a 2:13--which he could easily do seeing as A. the 4x8 was his only event at this meet, and B. that 2:13 wasn't even going all-out for him. Whatever, what's done is done, and next year we'll have another shot at it. Hopefully Thomas and I will be in the low-mid 2s, Henry will get off his ass and run a sub-2:10, and at that point Will could run his current PR of 2:14 and we'd have it (he'll probably run faster, though. I don't think he's peaked this year.)

So Jacob was sick, so I somehow got put into the 4x2. Yes, a sophomore distance runner on the 4x2 at NE's. Unfortunately the event was directly after the 4x8 and only had the Boys Mile before the 1000m, so a combination of tired legs and extreme anxiety about the 1000m had me run a 25.5. It was a decent leg all things considered, but I can't help but wish I had been a bit more fresh. On that banked track, I may have been able to break 25 seconds.

The 1000m was last, and there's really nothing to say. I went out too easy and didn't have the willpower nor strength to pick it up when I realized I was going slow. Instead of my seed time of 2:46, I ran a 2:54. That's okay considering I wasn't even close to recovering from the 4x8, but that knowledge does not lessen the blow of being the last-place finisher by a good 4 seconds. Meh, I barely qualified anyway, so expectations weren't very high.

To cool down, we ran around outside, where it was dark but pretty nice.
