Coach sent out the email last night about us doing the michigan today. From what I had heard it is a pretty shitty workout. Hard track intervals with hard tempo miles in between them. Not to mention the wind fucking sucked today. I surprised myself though... kind of. Ty and I were supposed to hit 4:50 pace for the 1200 and the 1600, but the first mile was in 4:57. We went through in 72, but i think our second lap screwed us. It was around a 77 because we got too relaxed. We dropped the pace a bit from there but were trying to stay controlled because this was only the first interval. The first tempo mile directly followed and it was to be done off of the track. We walked off of the track at the back gate and then started into it down the road and onto the xc course. It was definately way more than a mile because we hit it in 6:44. The 1200 was better paced, not too fast or slow, and we hit it right on pace in 3:38. The next tempo mile was the normal route, and we hit it in 5:37. The 800 followed this and we took it out nicely in 70 and then closed in 70 for a 2:20. The last tempo mile was the fastest of all, although I was dying on this one. We ran 5:36 for this one. The last track interval was a 400 with the last 200 to be done all out. I felt surprisingly relaxed coming through halfway in 32, and then dropped a high 29 to finish the 400 in 62.1. I was surprised that I could manage this. I guess the michigan isn't the most impossible workout ever created. I surprised my self today. Workout went like this:
4:57
tempo mile
3:38
tempo mile
2:20
tempo mile
62
