worked on water pit jumps today with the actual water pit. i was with brooke and emilie, and we all agreed that our water pit looks a lot bigger than the one at depauw. anyways, we did the usual hurdle drills to get ready-- it was kinda cold, and i wasn't feeling it at first, but by the time we were ready to run through, it had warmed up, and so had i. i started with a jump at the women's height, and resolved to do the rest at regular height. i don't know how many jumps we did, but it went well. i thought before that my left leg was better for pushing off, but realized today that i was going into the barrier with my left leg to avoid landing on my left foot. when i tried to switch it up, i ended up either jumping off and landing on my right foot, or just landing two-footed. it was weird because it's subconscious right now-- i.e. the avoidance of landing with too much force on my left foot--
after we had sufficiently "gotten our feet wet" with the water barrier, we practiced some hurdling. i ditched the spikes and put on some pants, which made me heavier, but at least i was warm. the hurdles went really well. i feel like i'm improving every time i hurdle. it was only a month ago that coach told me that i was terrible at hurdling-- now it seems that i'm hurdling instead of jumping more and more often. i'm really psyched to steeple this weekend.
