GPREP meet - pacing

April 13, 2011 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 55ish

Comments:
i got to run everybody else's race today! so so much fun! on the bus on the way to the meet, anthony gave me target paces to hit in the mile, so it was like a game for me to see how accurately I could run those paces. Ran the mile in 6:35, i think the splits were like 97, 3:20, ?, 6:35. I was really in a pack for the first few laps (with Jessica, Emma Murdock, etc), but the last lap was really just me helping Jessica. She ran so well!
then I ran the 400 (on my own)...legs were a little tired, didn't bother to switch to spikes, etc, but i actually felt really strong and didn't get tired/"hit the wall" during the 4; my arms didn't get sore 200 in either, which is what usually happens to me during hard 4s. ran 76.9, which is actually only a little off my pr (74.something) from a freshman year 4x4 :)
also ran the 800. this was literally the highlight of my day. Anthony wanted me to hit about 3:10. I ran with tessa and julia novey in the first lap, and then lost tessa when julia really dug in. her 2nd lap was faster than her 1st!! I talked her through it the whole way (I talked throughout the duration of the mile too haha), but it was really her work that made it happen. We had our eyes on a couple of burke girls ahead of us, and julia got tough and fought for it! I think we ran ~ 3:13 high, which was HUGE for her. she also ASKED to do an extra cooldown and told me she was "so happy" ...it was literally the MOST EXCITING and gratifying thing ever! I'm so so proud of her!!! :)
