Comments:
jog to au, drills, etc. didn't feel that fabulous, but sort of restless/antsy and ready to go. I was asked to do "B" workout, which was more tailored to longer distance people, but I was the only girl running it. I was actually thrilled to do my own thing - having nothing but empty track in front of me and a watch on my wrist is all I ever want in a workout :)
I ran the 800 with the team. Our goal was to run it at our mile pace, so I was a second off (I ran 3:00 flat instead of 2:59)...not bad. Then 800 recovery, then my workout started. Anthony wanted 6 400s with 60 second recovery at "2 mile" pace; my 2mi pace would be 1:40 400s. Then anthony told me to work with 12:40 2mi pace instead, so my targets were around 1:35. I ran 1:37, 1:35, 1:36, 1:35, 1:34, 1:24. I legitimately never took more than 55 seconds recovery (I timed it). I was just out there again, checking each 100 split, hitting everything exactly where I wanted to be. I hardly talked with anthony, I just did my own thing. he let me decide when to push, and I decided to stay consistent until the last one. Even after the 5th one, I had a lot left; I could have done 5 more at that pace with that recovery. But the speed isn't quite there; I felt like I was going so fast at the end, but I ran 84. I started to jog my cooldown and met up with the other girls, and they were about to start their last 200. I was like "eh I'm tired but why not" so I jumped into that last 200 after only 200 recovery. I ran 37, which I'm fine with given my workout. It was nice to push a little even though my legs were tired. i felt good on the way home though, and ended up going faster than most of the other girls. I feel so strong and in such good shape. I love being able to catch my breath so quickly, and to go run another one at the same pace; it's so fun to feel so strong. all in all, a good day's work :)
