Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
after work, i went over to my dad's house, parked the car there, then ran over to stone mountain park. i've run at the park a few times before, but i've never run to the park, so i wasn't sure about the mileage on this one. it took me about 4:30 to get there, so i estimated .75ish. i started out running on a trail with which i was familiar, but took a wrong turn, headed over the train tracks, and up the side of the mountain. despite the fact that I knew i had taken a wrong turn, i kept running, out of curiosity, maybe. i don't know if it was the best choice, because i was running in the sun, and on the side of the rock face, so i was kinda crooked for a while. eventually i got back to a trail and it was all good. fortunately the whole trail was well-marked, with white paint, so i followed that most of the way.
the trails at stone mountain are more like hiking trails, and are really technical, with roots and rocks, and uneven ground a lot. that probably slowed me down some. but also i twisted my ankle a little bit. it was on a part of the trail that wasn't particularly uneven, it just hit the edge of a rock wrong. i hobbled around for about 10-20 seconds before i decided to start running again. it felt fine, only a little sore afterwards.
the run was really nice otherwise. the trails were shady, which was good, because it was super hot today--i was soaked when i finished my run-- and the trail went along a lake, so it was pleasant. eventually, i got onto a trail with yellow-orange markers that took me back out to where i came in. stretched for a while in the driveway. oh yeah, i forgot to bring socks with me today, and since my dad wasn't home, i couldn't borrow any. luckily i didn't get any blisters, just some sore feet. don't do that again.
