went into this race actually not having a clue of what i was capable of running. my season has been all over the place in terms of illness and types of workouts. i really just wanted to pr and anything after that would be expected, to a point. during the warmup i had a cramp that i didnt think to much of and during strides my right hip flexor was really tight. i was started in the second row of the 2nd heat (of 3). the race got underway and i felt really smooth up to the mile thinking it would be around 4:50 (4:53). after passing the mile my lap times were starting to increase and my warmup side cramp came back with a vengeance. i made it to the two mile hearing something like 9:5x high or something. so people started passing me and my original plan of pr'ing was diminishing. originally i thought pr'ing really wouldnt be much of a daunting task, so when i knew it wouldnt happen i just didnt see the point. it was then that i decided i really wasnt having fun anymore. a weird thing to feel while racing, but mixed with that feeling and pain i just wanted to bail. i'm definitely going to keep racing because i figure i have a few fast 15s still in me and maybe a 5k if i feel up to it. i need to get something decent out of this past year's hard work sheesh.
