as i was starting my run, i decided i wanted to close in 6-flat. i went to henderson, as usual. this was in the afternoon, because my mom and i played golf this morning. i sat around for a while afterward rehydrating and hoping it would cool off. i left just before 5, and it was still 96. really humid too. there were some parts of the trail that i'd get a nice breeze and it'd feel great, and others where the air was stagnant and hot and awful. lap2, going up one of the big hills, i had to run through an entire middle school girls soccer team, kicking their soccer balls all the way up the hill. they didn't move when i excused myself, so i surged to get past, going faster than usual-- it took a second to regain control of my breath, but i felt strong. i'm getting to the point that i don't have to think too much when running at henderson because it's almost automatic-- it makes the time go by faster. felt like a really solid run, was just hoping i had a low-6 left to finish. i got back onto the roads a little fast , but felt good. finished in 5:44. stretch.
