Tempo Run

I wanted to do a tempo run b/c I was doubting whether many of the recent workouts I did were a reflection on my fitness today. My main problem was that the previous workouts had decent recovery (3 minutes for mile repeats, full recover for .5 mi repeats). There are no breaks for a tempo run.

My goal pace was 5:45 and I started on the treadmill for 3 miles to get into the groove. Hit the 1st 3 fairly easily so I jumped off the treadmill and jumped on the indoor track for the last 2 (about 5 second walk to the track so not much of a break). Checked my pace at the quarter, half, and mile and I dropped pace to 5:33. Didn't check my watch again until I finished, and the last mile was a 5:27. So I admit the last 2 miles were a bit faster than tempo on accident. Total time was a 28:15, which is 11 seconds from an 8k PR. Very pleased with this workout and am expecting exciting results in the 5k in a few days. Goal is a sub-17 but I'll try to start out at 5:20 for the first mile and see what happens.

I just have to figure out how to not choke during races like I have in the past. No pressure anymore though so that should help.
