Found some new trails by Ponte Vedra High School! Didn't get to explore the whole thing because I kept going along some dead ends, but I'll try to get back soon and see what all is there.
I slept in this morning so I didn't run with Mike, meaning this run was in the late morning/dead heat of the afternoon. Not the best idea but it ended up being a good run ...
My knee felt fine at the beginning and the only tightness I had was in the upper part of my IT band. That loosened a couple miles in and the knee twinges returned. However, the pain came and went with the trail -- when it was rough it hurt, when it was smooth it felt fine. I stopped a couple times for about 15 seconds just to let it loosen up then resumed immediately.
The worst pain came when I got off the trail and hit the pavement again for the last mile in the noon sun. It wasn't anything terrible, but that was definitely the worst part of the run.
Only meant to run 6 but got a little carried away exploring.
My right foot arch also felt really tight so I stretched that afterward.
Still hoping for the best! My IT doesn't seem to be getting any worse so I'm hoping its a good sign.
Note -- I blame the pace on the heat and the trail. When it got rough I had to slow down so I didn't hurt my leg and the heat was definitely slowing me down. Felt like I was swimming.
