August 29, 2011 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Decided to attempt a run at the RPAC this morning, and went off virtually w/o a hitch! IT Band felt a bit tight at first, but I decided to run through it and see if it would loosen up. It did fairly quickly and the rest of the run went smoothly. I didn't have anyone check to see if I was striding right (thought that would be weird to ask), but I kept a higher pace and forced myself to not favor a leg. I think that was successful b/c when I did run past a part of the track where I could watch my form, it looked normal.
Unfortunately I did lose some fitness (but not too much). I definitely won't be able to get into sub 2:45 shape by Sept. 17 so I think I will just skip out on Dayton. I'll be looking to do 1 more marathon before Boston though (if I don't get locked out again). Maybe run some 5ks for kicks and see if I can post some good times.
Of course none of this matters if I don't string some runs together and slip back into injury. I'll feel a lot more confident about this whole thing if I can put a week together w/o any problems.
Aggressive pace but it felt good. I'll be more careful in the future.
