track time!

October 10, 2011 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
the workout today was on the track. a beautiful fall day with perfect temperature and nary a cloud in the sky. i distinctly remember thinking "there's nothing i'd rather be doing than this workout." maybe we were taking it too easy at first...
WU to nrv 2mi through lil' italy
drills, changed into flats
4x1k at goal race pace (3:13) 2min rest
3x800 below race pace (2:29) 3min rest
8x200 fast. 200m jog, rolled in
CD 1mi barefoot on the field, 1mi back to veale
the goal times for this workout ended up being a little slow-- for the first two 1k's i ran 3:11, and it felt really easy, like tempo pace. ran the next two in 3:04, 3:06. felt more like a workout, but i'm not sure how long i could've sustained that pace. the 800s felt a lot faster, even though they weren't, and we ran them backwards, which was weird. came through in 2:24, 2:19, 2:20. felt tired on the third one. ran the 200s hard with chris and ethan (i didn't time them, but mostly 28-30s). felt awesome for the first half- right in stride with chris and clipping off 29s like it was nothing. started to feel it after the fourth, so the second half was hard work. finally done. the flats are a little small, but it's not usually a problem. because of the surface and the speed today, my toes got jammed up in the front of the shoe such that the only thing i cared about after finishing was taking off my shoes. my second toe is still a bit sore, maybe i'll ice it.
cd back to veale, stretched my very tight calves.
lift week 4, day one. increased weight, more difficult, but i made it through. static 1, eaglex30 in the training room. ice bath, then a mad dash to fribley.
