indoor conference. the 3k.

February 26, 2012 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
warmed up for about 20 minutes, it was nice and sunny out, but still a bit windy. got through the warmup routine well, no problems.
the race: i got out well, probably would've been perfect in any other race, but since no one wanted to lead, i ended up in the front. i knew bernstein was behind me, and everyone else was following him, so i was stuck, and after leading the first 200m, i realized it was going to stay that way. so i went and ran my race. for the most part, i think i had even splits. came through 1k in 2:59, 1600 in 4:44. the pass started around 1400m, and i couldn't go with them. i tried, but it kinda felt like they were in another league. maybe it's just because i led the race and was tired from that, but i don't know if i could've run a lot faster. i mean, not 8:32. 8:45 would've been nice. it was my goal, after all. it was a decently paced race, and i can't say i'm too disappointed-- i've gotta start somewhere-- and this certainly wasn't as bad as my last two conference races-- outdoor: out of shape and slow, cross: falling apart completely-- so all in all, a good race. it's a good step forward, and i'm psyched for outdoor.

cooldown with kristen and natalia and ckells. enjoyed the weather, panorama, for the last, and only, time during our stay in nyc.
