2012 Oakland Half Marathon

Felt great to finish, but 'alright' because of the struggling effort for the final 5k. Originally was going to run the marathon, but feeling fatigued lately, ended up signing up yesterday for the half -- which I am thankful for because I don't think I would of finished in one piece. Ran with a pack up to mile 4, by miles 5-9 was me and one other runner, which I could not keep up with in the later miles. By mile 10 I felt spent, like questioning "why am I doing this" (which has been more associated with running paces 7:20 or faster lately). Last 4 miles were between 6:10-18 pace with mile 12 a 6:23. Super grateful for the finishing time (which is my second best half time thus far), it was worth the struggle. My highlights for this race was the massage at the end and talking with Franck and Arnel about their race, training and future endeavors -- it really brings the sense of community. Newton MV2
