August 9, 2012 (Afternoon)
Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
the air was hot and humid, but the skies were graciously overcast. a cool breeze offered the occasional respite from the heat of my afternoon stroll. fatigued from the beginning of the week, i relaxed into a comfortable pace just above 7minutes/mile. as i made my way through the woods, i found myself ensnared in spider webs and the thick air, impeding my progress. a few miles in, dark clouds of thunder began to roll in, and the pitter-patter of raindrops against the canopy accompanied my footsteps. as if compelled by a sense of urgency, or possibly excitement, my pace quickened as the rain continued to fall. there was hardly anyone else on the trails, and i felt in harmony with nature. overall, a spiritually and physically cleansing run.
got back. did some uphill barefoot striders on the street. it was interesting--my feet didn't really hurt from it. did some abs, stretched, and watched olympics.
had this song in my head the whole time:
