Hey Ahnold

May 21, 2013 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Weights

Comments:
When Arnold was in his early 20s, he competed in this bodybuilding show called Mr. World in Columbus and this event was organized by a man named Jim Lorimer. Lorimer is currently 85 yrs old. He actually was like coaching Ohio Track Club and he led the women's team to the national level before. He was also hosting bodybuilding and powerlifting shows in Columbus. Arnold had just finished competing in London and defended his Mr. Universe title, and flew to compete at Lorimer's Mr. World. Bodybuilding competitions were still kind of a new thing back then and were organized really shitily. Like poor public outreach and low attendance and stuff and disorganized. But at this show Arnold was extremely impressed cuz it was like the most well put together show that he's ever competed at. It inspired him so after the show he told Lorimer that when he retires from competing, he planned to work with Lorimer together to host bodybuilding contests, and he followed through with that intent. So for many years after Arnold's retirement he and Lorimer hosted Mr. Worlds and even Mr. Olympia shows during the 1980s. At the end of the 80s, they began the Arnold Classic. The Arnold Classic was increasingly promoted during the past 30 years and prize money steadily increased, and now is one of the most prestigious bodybuilding competitions. It attracts a lot of top IFBB pros each year. So yea that's why of all places in the US, the Arnold classic happens in Columbus!

I couldn't agree more with that statement. Can't wait to get back into Veale.
You know that kid has no idea what he's doing when he weighs 95lbs, wears a cut off shirt with a wifebeater and his first exercise is bicep curls.
Also, this old guy was brushing his teeth at 5pm in the gym locker room. weird.

1.5 scoops of Hemo Rage, i dont think i felt anything. it didnt really even make me pee much at all. But its fine.
Did a set of like 5 with 135 on the squat to warm up and get the form right.
Loaded up 195lbs for 5 sets of 5. Doing strength oriented work. These were pretty tough. I know my forms not picture perfect. gotta work on that. But i think it was better than last week. kept things tight and and didnt bend the lower back as much. took between 2:30-3min rest. I think i'm squatting parallel or at least pretty damn close, like 1-2 inches. but i mostly dont go ATG, ass to the grass. I think i slightly put unnecessary strain on my right adductor cuz I might have pointed me feet out too far outward. I also wore my belt today and goddamn that thing is saving my life. i dont feel sore in the lower back from squatting. Thanks Valeo.

5x15 standing calf raises wiht 150lbs. 1 minute rest. got so carried away in the 4th set i did like 19reps or soemthing without realizing. good stuff.

Hack squats. did like 1 set of 10 with 45lbs each side, then 10 reps with 55 lbs each side then 10 with 65 each side. i think my foot placement was a bit low, so i didnt quite use my glutes as much.

Leg press. did 10 reps with 135, then 10 with 145, then 155 each side. so thats over 300lbs. these were good. last set i actually did a dropset, just stripping off the big plates one at a time per set, hit 10-12 reps per drop and actually started to feel a quad burn the last drop.

Leg extensions. 60lbs for 3x15 with 1min rest, got a decent burn. increased to 70lbs for 1x12, then took slightly more rest ~75s for 1x10 with 80lbs for a NOS set of 80-60-50-40-30. Got an awesome burn and took it to pretty much failure. About 6 reps per drop.
Couldnt walk down the stairs it was awesome. I look forward to that every week.
