"You must really like cream cheese." [CREAM CHEESE LOOP]

June 23, 2013 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Torrential downpour like you wouldn't believe

Comments:
Let me preface this log with two items. First, unlike Zeke I've never rummaged through Anthony's analog logs from years past, but this quite possibly could be a contender for the longest log-to-run-distance ratio award. Second, this will be the only time I ever run the Cream Cheese Loop.

So, here's the story. It's my grandparents' 50th anniversary today. They live really close, but my cousins had to come in from out of town. Anyway, we are having a brunch at my house, and my parents ordered lox spread and veggie cream cheese, but no regular. Are you kidding me? That's something I just can't deal with. I look outside and it's pouring. And 9 AM. But I really like cream cheese. So I ran a mile in the rain, clutching my card, to the Safeway right off Sangamore outside of my neighborhood. I took Overlea, not Namakagan, for anyone who is familiar. So I get there, my shirt weighs two pounds, and I walk over to grab a brick of cream cheese. The cashier looked down at me and just said, "you must really like cream cheese." I nodded and said I'd pay an extra five cents for a plastic bag "for obvious reasons." He laughed, I paid, I left. I ran back at a little faster clip, but I took a wrong turn and ended up with a pretty bad hill towards the end. The river that we usually call a "street" didn't exactly help the situation. I finally got home, at which point I triumphantly slammed my brick of fresh, still dry cream cheese on the counter and went upstairs. I had half an hour to get ready for my extended family, so I hopped in the shower and put shampoo on my soaking hair before turning on the water--because I could. Then, instead of stretching, I typed this garbage up. Because what else would I be thinking about during that whole run?

PS: How Albrittank is able to just title his logs after roman numerals is astounding. I don't have that kind of discipline.

PPS: I forgot I was supposed to say something about how I actually felt during the run. Novel concept! I felt fine. A little winded towards the end. Really wet the whole time. My knees hurt again at the very beginning (like they did the other day) but that ended quickly.
