In the face of fear

June 2, 2014 (Night)

Exercise Type: Weights

Comments:
A new 5RM set again. Warming up I felt pretty good. took the weekend off so i was fresh, no aches/pains etc. 275 felt smooth, so did 305. So i went for it. 345. its just unreal the amount of fear and anxiety that builds up within me in the minutes. The squat is more terrifying than any other lift. If you can't get the rep on the deadlift, u just drop it on the ground. If you cant get the rep on bench, well, you probably have a spotter. or you can roll the bar on down ur chest since the weight is relatively light compared to the other big lifts. but on the squat, you get buried. you can dump the bar behind you but theres high risk of injury. especially if your core gives out and you keel over. itll be hard to dump the bar backwards.
My hands were shaking, heart pounding and breathing rapidly. but you gotta just go and face your fear and lift that shit. first rep i either wasn't properly braced or just lost balance a bit and good morninged it. but i knew i had more in me. so i continued. reps 4 and 5 felt like i couldnt make it thru, but i grinded through. New 5RM - 345lbs

Benched a full 5x5 w/ 210lbs. wednesday I'll be going for a new 5RM on the bench at 225 - 2 plates baby!

actually went back and did some pause squats 3x5 at 245lbs freakin brutal

In other news, ive got work to do for med school already. in the first 9 weeks or so of classes, we will become EMT certified and be riding/working in ambulances. So to prepare for this, we were assigned textbook reading: Emergency Care and Transport of the Injured and Sick. we gotta read the entire book. all 1600 pages by the start of class in 2 months lol. that sounds like a cruel joke. but honestly, im freakin pumped. im excited to jump into the thick of medicine and start learning stuff. bring it on!
