Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
I ran the chicago half today. It was basically perfect running weather and there were so many people. It was kinda weird in the beginning because it was quiet compared to races in college. I felt pretty good starting out so I decided to just keep going at that pace (around 7:45) to try to beat my goal time of 1:45. Matthew and I stuck together through the first 5k but then he fell back. I paced with this guy from there until around 8.5 miles where he also fell back. I'm glad that I decided to stick with him though because it pulled me through the middle of the race. Around 9 miles I started to feel tired and the last mile was probably the longest mile I've ever ran but I'm glad I kept around the same pace so I could finish before 1:45.
The official chip time and splits were 38:39 for 5M (7:44 pace), 1:16:47 for 10M(7:41 pace) and 1:41:30(7:45 pace) at 13.1. I'm pretty proud of this, especially since it was the first half I've done. Also I got 666th place overall...so I'm hoping thats not a sign or something. There were 7,832 runners so this was definitely the biggest race I've been in. Also since it was an out and back I got to see the really fast people coming in which was cool. I was also 11th/599 in females 20-24 which is pretty cool too though of all females I was 118th.
