Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
It was pretty hard to get out and run today. I decided to take yesterday as my day off, in order to get some sleep and recover from my cold as quickly as possible. I felt better today, but perhaps eating applesauce and latkes 30 minutes prior wasn't the best idea. I ran from home to Mazza, and from there headed on the usual route to Cactus. I experienced a great deal of heartburn, and had to stop a few times to clear my throat. This felt almost like a speed workout, as I would run steady for a block or two, fighting off incredible chest and stomach pain, get stopped by a red light, and start up again at a tempo pace, feeling much better. But I would soon slow down again. However, I made it to Cactus, and my way back felt significantly better. I managed to block out pain and focus on form, a skill that will be useful to my racing once I get better at it. I enjoyed running on such people-packed streets in the dark, but if I want to run in the park and other emptier places, I'm going to have to get out earlier.
