Longish Run

December 23, 2014 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 3:45, down into the upper 30's and breezy but clear

Comments:
City Trail to the access road to the Ranger Station, picked up Clover Springs Trail, then took Buckskinner Trail into the park, returned to town on 6th st, short 1/4 mile pickup by the high school on the way back, added a bit after the car to hit 36 even.

This was a great run. nice and easy, dirt roads, trails, paved roads, lots of seclusion back on Clover. I did forget there were stairs built into that trail though. Ashamed to say I had to slow to a walk to go up them. I'll have my vengeance soon enough though. On the way back into the park I startled a herd of 20-30 elk, couldn't have been more than 100 yards from a few of them, they cut down the hill and I ran along side them on the trail for a quarter mile or so, then saw them again down on the dirt road in the park. It was pretty cool, that kind of stuff is part of the reason I wanted to get back into running, so to see it that epically in my first week back was nice.

Felt pretty good, fought my body's natural desire to overstride on the way back downhill which I'm hoping will help my hammies stay looser. No exercises today, just some more stretching this evening and I'll roll out my hamstrings.
