Gettin' Slushy

January 3, 2015 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 2pm, only 3 degrees warmer, but seemed a lot hotter than yesterday

Comments:
I've been reading "Once a Runner" as motivation to get started up again, and I must say, his theory that it's tougher for someone in warmer climates to run in the winter because it's "Always getting your hopes up" is horse apples. At least they can train at an even pace and the routes don't change drastically with the addition of snow. Way harder psychologically to make yourself keep going up a hill with a foot of snow on it when every step you take requires extra leg lift and you slide back a half step with each stride.

That being said, cool to know you're the only one out there toughing through those conditions. Did the same trail as yesterday, still the only tracks on the trail. The melt made it all the slicker than yesterday, and tougher when you hit the shady parts because it went from ankle deep slush to foot deep snow with a crusty layer on top. Still a fun run though. Took my watch today and whewww, took almost 3 minutes longer to get to where the trail splits than usual. Not the fastest two miles I've ever run I s'pose. 90 seconds faster on the way back though.

Ups after.
