people are so stupid

like i understand, from experience DOING stupid things. making poor decisions, not caring about consequences, having opinions. but there are lots of ways to just lack proper knowledge kind of stupid. in my opinion spreading information that you have no basic comprehension of is the biggest form of stupidity that will plague people for the near future. i have this friend who i grew up down the street from and was probably my best friend up until i moved in 1st grade. we were on sports teams together then and even were eventually in high school. not the brightest bulb in the bunch but a good friend. he was always stubborn and is pretty hardcore conservative. he "shares" and posts load of things on facebook. most of the time political so i ignore them. but today he shared this thing about fluorescent lightbulbs. it was a video that shows some dude holding up a meter that measures "electromagnetic radiation" and the text beneath the video says like "get rid of your incandescant bulbs they'll kill you!" or something. and i was just appalled at that. first the meter had no units on it. just numbers. it showed 0 away from the bulb and then like 1300 near it and beeped and flashed its little red light. OH GOD NO IT MUST BE DANGEROUS. now having some general knowledge of the world, i knew this was a bunch of bullshit because there is no proof of anything. literally all he did was show a number and a flashy light with beeping after saying the buzzword "radiation". and electromagnetic sounds smart and dangerous too. i cant fathom how anyone would believe any of this. and because im a smarty pants know-it-all i had to just make sure and look up this device on the internet and make sure i wasnt the one full of shit. and of course im not. and obviously there's no way these light bulbs would have ever been aloud in homes if they were even remotely harmful to people. like maybe if you put your face 4 inches from this bulb for hours on end, you're gonna have a bad time but then again you might have some other problems. anyway it took all of my power not to comment on this video. like i cant imagine how people can spread this type of video, of misinformation and even consider believing it. and its not just this specific video i know theres other stuff out there that i normally ignore but this one happened to catch my eye because its something i know about and really frustrated me. that people just believe things with no evidence. not faith, or anything like that, which i understand. this is like science. like something that many people got payed to make sure is safe for the public. people are listening to a video because it used the words electromagnetic radiation and flashed a red light with beepy noises. real people. OH MY GOD. i just needed to rant this out here so i dont embarrass myself trying to convey this to people on the internet. it could only lead to bad things. never ever argue on the internet. or in real life. that ends bad too. its been a rough week. i should have ran more.
