April 1, 2015 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Walk
Weather: Bright and windy
Comments:
According to an article I saw on my Facebook newsfeed, the second highest reason for divorce is spurred from a spouse's weight gain. Kate and I are doing pretty well. We at least have number one going in the right direction (although I guess infidelity is easier to avoid when you've only got three wandering limbs to keep track of), and I'm a solid 35 pounds lighter than I was a year ago.
Neither of us are whales, either, but I figure trying cardio again couldn't hurt. My new prosthetic has got some pretty gnarly off-road traction I should probably be taking advantage of. At least, the little pamphlet that came with it directed me to this site to try it.
Kate came with me too. I wanted to go straight into a run, but she convinced me to start with a walk. She's probably right. I could probably rock a marathon in my spinny chair with all the scooting I do around the office, but my feet need to start slow.
Actually, a marathon might be a good goal. People always like stories about cripples doing cool stuff regular people struggle with. And what a way to save a non-failing marriage. The walk was really relaxing for us. I know people have problems sticking with these things, but I don't think I'll have any qualms in doing this every day.
