Making up for lost time

April 7, 2015 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Before the sun comes up

Comments:
Okay, so I missed a few days, but hear me out. After gloating about it a little bit, I realized Kate might have been right. Running in the rain, although a display of dedication, might not have been my brightest idea. I woke up Friday morning with a terrible cold which kept me in bed for the day.

Saturday morning my fever had dissolved into sniffles, so I thought I was good to go until I found some flakes of rust on my prosthetic. I'm kind of peeved about that, since the packaging said "just like the real thing!" and I don't remember ever having an issue of one of my fleshy limbs rusting away. Kate shined it up for me, but not with enough time to fit a run in before work.

Sunday I wasn't really feeling it. It's the day of rest anyway, and even amputees need to put up their foot and relax once in awhile.

Monday was the day of... cookies. So I might have gotten a little lazy. It didn't help that Annie brought some home cookies from her Family Consumer Science class. (Delish, A+). It also didn't help that Kate hasn't been as supportive as I'd thought she'd be about my running routine.

I appreciate her worry, but it's something I have to do for myself. I guess I'll just have to do it in secret from now on. Hey, but now I have the element of surprise on my side when I blow her away at the marathon. I think half of one will be good to start. (I looked it up. The Arkview half-marathon. There's one three months away!)

So it hasn't been exactly smooth sailing up to this point. Today wasn't a total waste, though. I got up way before Kate so she wouldn't notice, and busted out a whole mile. I was pretty slow. Embarrassingly slow. But I did it. And I'll do it again tomorrow. (Shhhhh.)
