First Sophomore Tempo

July 13, 2015 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
I wasn't sure if I was going to make it to practice today, but luckily we left Cleveland early enough to literally make it straight to practice at 5:25. I felt a little stiff and sluggish, but I figured the best remedy for that would be to run. I was definitely a bit nervous to hear that the first summer workout would be today, but luckily it was a slightly looser-structured run how you feel out-and-back tempo. I went out in a very laid back manner with Sahil. I figured I could maybe stay with Zeke, Danny, and John if I wanted, but my stomach was already hurting a bit and I didn't want to ruin my tempo by exhausting myself on the steady section. We took the back route (NCS version where YUMA takes us from 37th to 38th, not Upton) to Nebraska, and turned around at Connecticut. Sahil and I actually hit 22 minutes on Nebraska, but we both had to go to the bathroom, so we kept going to Connecticut and went to Politics and Prose. We then started the tempo after crossing to the other side of Connecticut (hence the difference in distance). I felt like I could go a lot faster when we started, but we sped up as we got closer and I fell into a great rhythm by 37th. We made an effort to finish strong on the Garfield hill and I felt, for the first time since the beginning of summer training, as strong and fast as I did during the year.
