So long as I don't have to run in my neighborhood, I'm chomping at the bit to start in the morning. Today I went to GDS, made my way to Willard Ave park, there did drills and six warmup striders, then jogged to the 4.5-mile marker, starting the tempo promptly. Before long I got in the zone where nothing could perturb me. At 15 minutes, making significant progress beyond two miles, I turned around. Immediately it became harder, but until the last half mile I maintained the effort well. As for the pace, splits at the markers were 6:05, 6:16, 6:20, 6:22 (25:03), plus the unmeasured 5:28 from the last marker to the turn-around point and back--30:31 of tempo running. I added a lap around the block aiming to do 8x20 seconds at mile effort, did four of them, but then decided they were useless. Crunch/pushup progression (50, 3)
