Third Battle

October 17, 2015 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
ok first of all, if you don't want to read an angsty log, this is not the log for you.
this was my first time at Third Battle and I was actually kind of excited for it. I went out a bit faster than usual I think and I didn't feel awful. But about halfway through the woods section, I started to get asthmatic and slowed down again. After a bit, it started to subside and I realized, hey, I feel great, so I sped up again. Which triggered the asthma again. Slow down speed up slow down speed up all throughout the race. By the end my lungs hurt but my legs didn't. And at first I was really ok with that. I did the best that I could with the situation and some things are just out of my control. But as the day went on I started to see more what I was missing out on. Of course it was amazing to see everyone run great races and have huge PRs. (Jack Rudnick sprinting up that little hill, passing everyone, was so incredibly inspiring, as was everyone else.) I feel really guilty for feeling anything but pride when my teammates are having these amazing successes. But at the same time I just really felt like I had it in me as well. But maybe that's just what I'm telling myself. And I know it was out of my control but I'm starting to get a bit frustrated with the moral victories (lol starting to). But knowing that I was working hard despite some circumstances that were out of my control sustained me through a lot of cross training over the last year. And that's all well and good but I just want a big PR to go along with it. (oh also I PRed today by 7 seconds.)
For those of you who have made it this far (and hopefully there aren't many of you), sorry for the melodrama and excessive complaining. very very proud of all of my amazing teammates and I'm excited to see what this team can do at Championships.
Also another highlight of the day was that I got to hang out with a lot of people that I don't normally get to hang out with. I really enjoyed so many conversations that I had today and I love all of you guys :)

also injury report:
shin still hurting, occasionally it hurts a bit when I'm not running or even not standing. but I didn't feel it during the race or even much during the cooldown I don't think. it isn't getting better but I don't think it's getting a lot worse either.
