STA/NCS Mini-Invitational

April 16, 2016 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: nice but a little hot in the afternoon

Comments:
I woke up this morning very sore and spent basically the entire morning stretching while I watched races, all of which were amazing. I was so happy to see Isabel Kirsch running again and all the 1600 runners were really incredible. Special shoutout to my sister, Ana Gunther for an awesome race. Also later in the day, all of the 3200s were awesome, especially Rhiannas. Anyways, I spent the morning complaining about how sore I was (sorry guys). My hip flexor started to bother me as I was warming up and got worse as I got closer to the race. I talked to Anthony and we decided the goal was to stick with whoever was in last. I did try to do that but everyone went out super fast and I lost them pretty quickly. After about 200 I felt the adrenaline wear off and the soreness sink in. the rest did not feel so great but I did end up almost catching the second to last girl at the line. she beat me by about a 10th of a second unfortunately. I was very surprised to tie my PR today. I spent all day thinking it was going to be about 10 seconds slower. I'm hopeful that I could have PRed on fresher legs today. I'm really exhausted now, as I'm sure everyone is.
