ran good

May 26, 2016 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: not as hot as yesterday but still disgusting

Comments:
this was the way for the season to end. It really couldn't have been much better. I already wrote my really long post after ISLs, so feel free to reference that for more sappiness. But man, I'm just so proud to be on this team today. I'm so proud I got to compete with you guys, both those who raced today and yesterday and those who didn't. Anthony's speech yesterday really worked. Everyone brought it today. May followed a 2:18 800 runner for crying out loud. (Unfortunately she didn't stick with her all the way through but that's ok, I have all of the sympathy for breathing problems.) Danielle was in like 6 million events and killed all of them. Margaux fought through a knee injury to score us so many points. She went in to the 800 planning to take it easy and get a point or two but then just went ahead and got third in a PR. Rhianna tied her PR in the heat. The 4x1 and 4x4 were so thrilling. That half hour or so was incredibly stressful for me standing by the sidelines, so I can only imagine what it was like for them actually racing it. We got lucky that Wilson and Eastern both dropped their batons in the 4x1. All of our girls ran so well though. Man the 4x4 though. I really couldn't believe they were doing what they were doing. It was inspiring and so exciting. anyways most of you guys were there, so you saw it too. but it was really amazing. The boys team was also incredible today and its amazing they won this year and continued the streak, also coming down to a fantastic 4x4. As proud as I am of the boys, I just feel really lucky to be a part of the first girls team to be state champions. (To be fair, the meet has only existed for like 4 years, so there haven't been that many opportunities.) But really I love this group so so much and I'm honored to have been on this team and to have gotten to race at DC States. If there hadn't been that lightning strike 3 weeks ago that moved the second half of that Episcopal meet to the next day, I probably would not have raced at ISL As and probably not at states either. I'm pretty glad it all worked out :) I think I might have said the same thing 6 times already in this log. Hopefully that just proves that I mean it. I'm so glad this was how my high school (and maybe ever) track career ended. My race was also good. I started to cry a little bit on the line when Anthony came up next to me and almost missed my start. I missed my PR by .01 seconds but it was just a million times better than yesterday so I'm not complaining. Can't believe I got to do 3 events and also score and get a medal!! This really has been the season I've been hoping for for so long.

Also we got dinner after and saw the Wilson coach and she was very nice and also told us that William used to be a coach there. Also there was a shake called the grasshopper, so that felt really fitting
