Exercise Type: Run

Weather: heat index of 115 today but probably only like 100 or maybe high 90s when I was out

Comments:
woke up this morning at 8am (ew) to try to escape the heat. ended up wasting time and didn't run till 9:40. drove to bethesda, jogged down to cct then did some drills and a couple of striders at the entrance to the trail. I had some hope at that point that it would be an ok workout. but nope. ran for 10 min then started doing what can barely be called pickups. it was 4x3min at tempo with 90 seconds recovery. I felt bad breathing wise the whole time but it never got as bad as it did on Friday. on the bright side, my knee felt great after some sharp pain in my warmup. the day off really helped. after the first two and the second two I stopped to take my inhaler. pickup paces were 8:22, 8:07, 8:46, and 9. first two were downhill second two uphill. but it's frustrating because these paces were steady runs last summer. I could do it for 40 or more minutes, not just 3. I feel like doing steady runs slower has made paces that used to be fine feel difficult. I know it was really hot and humid today but there are always going to be difficult weather conditions and there's only so much you can do about them. plus I wanted to get a workout over with before leaving on Wednesday. met abby and climbed after. 1:15 planks and PT. pretty exhausted.
