Weather: 90% humidity
Comments:
set my alarm for 8 and almost went back to sleep but for the fact that the weather app told me it was 75 degrees out (not totally convinced of that.) drove to bethesda and set out on the CCT. Workout was 2x10 min at tempo with 5 min recovery. Definitely felt the effect of the humidity on my breathing even before I started the pickups but it never got totally out of control. I didn't want to do the first downhill and the second up so I ran out and then did my first pickup uphill and then the second pickup downhill, which was really helpful mentally. Got through the pickups ok. first one was 1.22 miles for 8:11 pace uphill and the second one was 1.28 miles for 7:48 pace downhill so not amazing but it could have been a lot worse. The jog back after felt pretty crappy and I had to stop once to stretch. What scares me a bit is that I want to be running a lot faster than that in races this season and with this I had a 5 minute break and I didn't have much left afterwards. Still, glad to have another workout under my belt. I've been mostly happy with my summer training but the biggest thing I've been worried about is the consistency of workouts so I'm just glad to get one more done.
motivating for strength has been a struggle. I did all my PT and a set of push-ups. hopefully more later.
