Boston Triathlon Run

July 30, 2017 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Let's begin with my transition from bike to run. Again, I was like a minute slower than everyone else! Yes, I did have some trouble getting my shoes on, but nothing that would have slowed me down more than 30 seconds. I just don't get how these people have so much faster transitions.

The run itself was my best yet in a triathlon. I felt really really good. Unfortunately the course only had markers for the first mile and second mile (both of which were wildly inaccurate), so I really never knew how fast I was going. I can say with total confidence that with how I was feeling, I could have dropped below 35 minutes no question.

So overall I got 20th place. My run ranked 10th officially but it says the fastest guy ran 30:13 while also taking 44 minutes on the swim with an absurd transition time more than double mine. The gold medalist at the olympics ran 31:09, and I can't find any running results of this guy on the internet, so I think it's reasonable to question the validity of this guy running 30:13. I think the timing got screwed up. So let's say my run was 9th overall. If you take out the transition times and focus just on the parts that take athletic ability, I would have gotten 15th. Good stuff. Good end to my tri season. Going to miss swimming. Not going to miss biking. Time to get back to being a full-time runner.
