Lost in Lake Lansing

Today I did a little over 3.5 warmup, 6x1 mile threshold pace with 1 minute rest workout, and a 2 mile cool down. I decided to drive up to the Lake Lansing Trails to try this workout. I'd never been there before, so it took me a while to figure it out.

My main issue is that the trails weren't very well marked. I accidentally warmed up almost 4 miles from getting lost on the trails. I was trying to do my miles on the Red Trail, which was supposedly a mile long trail loop, but it was too difficult to find where it went. I ended up doing sporadic miles down the trails and grassy areas in straight lines. The first 2 intervals were slow because i was trying to follow the shitty red trail but failing. After that, I just BSed it and went on random trails.

The trails were full of different textures and elevations. I ran over grass, dirt, mud, rocks, gravel, sand, roots, and wooden bridges, so I went more for effort rather than time. My splits weren't the best, but I guess technically it was still my threshold pace, so I can't complain too much. I seemed to increasingly get faster, despite the constant changes in the trails, so it was a successful workout. Half-way through the workout I changed from my Brooks to XC spikes and it made a pretty nice difference.

Overall good effort workout. I'm definitely on track for 60 miles this week, so hopefully I can keep that up.
